Messier 91 is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 60 million light years from our solar system in the Coma Berenices constellation and is part of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster.
M91 displays a low level of star formation, probably due to ram-pressure stripping, where collision with gasses in the intra-cluster medium have pushed out its free gas material, thus hampering its ability to form new stars.
