Messier 95 (M95) is a beautiful ringed, barred spiral galaxy 33 million light years away in the Leo Constellation. The central area is surrounded by a ring structure that constitutes a star-forming region. It has a mass of around 40 billion suns and is part of the M96 group of galaxies that includes Messiers 96 and 105.

I shot this image in November 2020 at the Marathon Motel in Marathon, Texas on my first-ever dark-sky trip. While I only got an hour-and-a-half of exposure time, I was astonished at how clearly it came through compared to attempts on similar targets from my back yard in light-polluted Dallas.
