vdB 25 is an eerie reflection nebula on the edge of Barnard’s Loop in Orion not far from Messier 42, the Great Orion Nebula. It’s about 1,000 light years away and is illuminated by the giant blue-white star HD 38023.

Because of its proximity to famous and popular targets—such as the aforementioned Messier 42, Messier 78, and the Horsehead Nebula, it doesn’t get much attention.
