Sixteen million miles away from Earth in the Canes Ventici constellation, the spiral galaxy Messier 94 (M94) spins about its starburst core.

The ring around the center hosts a majestic level of star formation that scientists believe is being caused by pressure wave emanating from the core. This wave encourages cold gas clouds and dust to condense to form new stars.
