Sh2-60 (lower right) is a star-forming region in the Scutum constellation about 7,180 light years away.

It appears that two large, hot stars are ionizing Sh2-60 and making it visible to us, although the stars have not been specifically identified. A bright radio source catalogued as W42 is generally associated with Sh2-60, although further study may peg its distance as too far to be part of Sh2-60.
