As part of the process for selecting an Astronomy Picture of the Day, NASA posts worthy submissions to its Sky page on Facebook. An image posted to Sky stands a better-than-average chance of going on to become an Astronomy Picture of the Day. A Sky posting is a significant honor and exposes an astrophotographer's work to the page's 350,000 members.
